Since the 1980s I conduct research and teach on the economy of the People’s Republic of China. My training is as an economist (PhD Economics, Cornell University) while much of my research and teaching crosses social science disciplines.
I am currently a professor at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology and have taught and/or conducted research at Stanford University, Cornell University, Princeton University, the University of Southern California and Harvard University.
In 2022/23, I am visiting the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
